General Procedures for Geometry and Advanced Algebra
Generally, chapters are broken up into two chunks, generally containing between three and five sections each. (Sometimes there will be only one chunk. A longer chapter may be divided into three chunks.) For each chunk, students can expect to complete a review packet before taking a quiz on that chunk. For each chapter, students can expect to complete a note packet prior to taking a chapter test.
Students should be working on review packets and note packets regularly. These packets are given to students prior to instruction on the material covered within them. Students are expected to read the sections in the book and complete the objectives and vocabulary sections of their note packets prior to instruction. Thus, they should be working in their note packets almost daily. After book work for a section is completed and gone over in class (generally the next day), students may work on the corresponding section in their review packets. Packets are never given out the night before they are due. Review packets can be downloaded and printed from the "Review Packets and More" page of this site. Review packets are graded for accuracy generally with each correct answer or part of an answer being awarded one point. Note packets are awarded up to five points per section.
Homework from the book is considered complete only if all work is shown. Homework will be turned in on quiz dates. Only students turning in complete homework with a quiz will be allowed to retake that quiz.
Complete late review packets with all work shown will be accepted for no more than half credit. Students have ample time to complete review packets and correct answers are provided to students on the date they are due. Exceptions will be made for extended absences due to illness or other extenuating circumstances.
I am available after school from 2:45 until at least 3:30 on most Mondays through Thursdays. Faculty meetings, department meetings, and other things come up that prevent me from being available on all Mondays through Thursdays.
